Namesake

Lied STEM Academy is named after Ernst F. Lied. 

Ernst Lied was a former car dealer from Nebraska who relocated to Las Vegas and entered the real estate business. Upon his passing in 1980, his estate was managed by his business partner and later sole trustee, Christina Hixson. 

Since Lied's death, the Lied Foundation Trust, headed by Hixson, has contributed significantly to various educational institutions, including the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the University of Nebraska, the University of Kansas, and Iowa State University.
